Interconnected Lake System Discharge Weir Modification

Interconnected Lake System Discharge Weir Modification

Design and construct of Interconnecting Lakes System, enabling Heritage Golf Course to manage high rainfall events, protecting critical infrastructure

In July-August of 2025, ABC completed a scope of works for Heritage Golf Course, in accordance with Melbourne Water specifications, involving the construction of interconnecting pipework between several dams, as well as the construction of 2 x DN600 sluice valves and valve chamber pit. The works were constructed with ABC personnel, plant and equipment, with assistance from Poly Welding Specialists Pty Ltd (PWS) for the welding of DN630 HDPE. To house the two valves, ABC designed and constructed a 3m x 1.5m x 2.0m concrete pit, in accordance with Melbourne Water specifications. This also involved designing a non-trafficable HDG steel lid that was easily accessible to Heritage Golf Course staff, which included spindle extensions that protruded through the pit's lid to control the valve easily in the event of a major rain event. The scope also included the supply and construction of over 500 lin m of DN315 HDPE pipework, interconnecting the dams and giving the course greater control over their on-site water. This project highlights ABC Civil Group’s ability to work with the client, alongside Melbourne Water, to design and construct a solution that ultimately gives the end user greater control over the waterway systems and have better outcomes for the environment.
