Directional drilling is the preferred choice for the installation of utilities including gas, water, communication cables and electricity and avoids many of the problems associated with open trench installations such as disruption to traffic flows, damage to highways, side walks, driveways, lawns and gardens and the obvious risk to pedestrians.

It is the preferred, safest way of installation as excavation near hazardous pipelines or live cables is eliminated and public safety concerns allayed. In many cases it is the only technical solution and is often the best financial and ecological conclusion.
